Root Canal Therapy

When a tooth’s nerve gets infected, a good root canal operation allows you to retain the tooth rather than have it extracted. There is nothing as good as your own tooth, so we try to save it. It is preferable to save a real tooth rather than having to substitute it with an artificial one.

The objective of root canal therapy is to protect the tooth and preserve the state, function and comfort of the tooth. Root canal treatment involves removing diseased tissue (infected pulp) from within the tooth and washing, lining, and closing the root canal gaps to reduce the risk of infection in the future.

Root canal infection signs include:

  • Sharp, acute, and excruciating pain when chewing.
  • Pressure that persists after consuming hot or cold foods.
  • A dull ache and a feeling of discomfort.
  • Tenderness and inflammation of the gums nearby.

You may not feel anything at all. Sometimes the tooth dies slowly over time and you may not have any symptoms.

What To Expect If Dr. Silva Boujikian Proposes Root Canal surgery?

The treatment starts with the administration of a local anaesthetic to alleviate pain. To gain entry to the infectious tissue, a small opening is made on the chewing surface of the tooth. To clear the infectious tissue and clean the interior of the tooth, fine tools are used. A tooth can have anywhere from one to four roots. Each root or canal must be thoroughly cleaned, prepared, filled, and sealed with biocompatible materials. To deter further contamination, they are coated with an adhesive cement. To avoid fractures, the tooth is then restored with a crown, particularly if it is a molar or a premolar tooth.

Non-Surgical Gum Therapy

Gum disease is the leading cause of tooth loss, followed by other factors.

At Dupont Dentistry we assist a large number of patients in their battle against this condition, which has been attributed to the progression of coronary heart disease and stroke.

Gum disease, also known as periodontal disease, is an inflammation that affects the teeth, gums, ligaments, and bone that cover them. Periodontal disease-affected gums are harmful reservoirs for disease-causing bacteria. Gum bleeding will cause an opening in your bloodstream, allowing infectious bacteria from your mouth to enter.

Keeping your gums in good shape is crucial to your general wellbeing. If periodontal disease is discovered, Dr. Silva Boujikian will recommend treatments tailored to your condition, such as more regular professional cleanings and working with you to develop an oral hygiene regimen that fits better for you at home.
